Fine Line Boat Plans & Designs

Incorporating Bruce Roberts International

For over forty years the Bruce Roberts Design team (of Queensland, Australia) has produced hundreds of designs from which over 20 000 boats have been built world wide. These include power and sail pleasure boats, commercial and fishing boats.

It is reported that this site has rights to Bruce Roberts designs pre-1990.

The sail boats range is of trailer sailers and extended cruising boats. Power boats are displacement and semi displacement, including a few power cats.

A catalogue of over 150 pages of designs is available from the website for AUD 20 . This appears to be a provision of a convenient format of the material dispersed over the website. It has:

Trailer Boats              20 pages

Power Boats                32 pages

Spray Designs            16 pages

Sail Boats                     56 pages

Kit Boats                       24 pages

On the website:

Power Boat Designs – 25 designs  21 – 65 ft.

Spray Designs – 13 designs 22 – 55 ft – size variations on Joshua Slocum’s famous world-cruising yacht.

Sailboat Designs – 46 designs grouped 18 – 30 ft, 30 – 40 ft, and 40 – 65 ft.

Steel Sailboat Kit Designs – 6 designs 36 – 55 ft.

Steel Powerboat Kit Designs – 18 designs 9  – 22 m.

Planing Designs – 16 designs 20 – 65 ft

Fine Line no longer sell planing hull designs. However, they maintain support for these legacy designs,  which were offered in wood/epoxy, GRP, and steel/aluminium.

Construction materials offered are wood epoxy, GRP, steel/aluminium. Both study plans (multiple sheets and material lists) and full plans and patterns are available. It is expected that the latter would be purchased only when there is a firm intention to build the design.

Fine Line have developed pre-cut parts kits, in steel/aluminium for many of their designs. These offer substantial benefits to the builder in accuracy, saving of time, and less call on builder’s skills.

Individual boat design particulars; one page with particulars, dimensions and illustrations, are available on the website by clicking through the design listings.
