About Me

About Me – Peter Edmonds

My school days enthusiasm for boating has led on to a lifetime of involvement, through recreational boating, Sea Scouts,  Royal Naval Reserve, Sydney Maritime Museum,  a career as a Naval Architect, supporting of a succession of own (and friends’) boats, and a few boatbuilding projects.

I currently own a Viking 30 (30 ft GRP cruiser-racer), race her regularly, cruise all too seldom, and socialise frequently, based on the Swan River, Western Australia.

I have built a plywood Gwen 12, and was project leader for first of a class of 16 ft GRP Sea Scout rowing and sailing training boats. I would love to build at least one boat from John Gardner’s book Building Classic Small Craft.

I was employed within the shipbuilding and boatbuilding industry for 22 years, including my studying for my Naval Architecture degree. Since then I have been essentially self-employed, serving a variety of markets around Western Australia, interstate and overseas.

In support of this I have embraced computer aided design, solids modelling (SolidWorks) and other computer based applications.
